She rode around this evening looking for houses that were vacated as we drove by Zion's National Park it was breath taking. I have never seen so much beauty in UT before and we have been here several times. We are sure grateful for the Hintons.

Pres Kimball was at the afternoon session.

10-05-84

Dear Diary, I have been really busy today baking . I baked layers for 3 carrot cakes. I took time to read the scriptures again. I feel better when I do. It seemed so plain today about when the Lord visited this continent the second time teaching the disciples and the multitude to pray. We are looking forward to going to the church tomorrow and Sunday to see conf from SLC by satellite.

Ann Brown taught it, she sure embarrassed me using me and my family as an example of bearing good fruits. Heber and I were also complimented by a sister who bore her testimony. We sure are grateful for a good day. We visited my 2 sisters.

9-29-84

Dear Diary, It is with much gratitude in my heart for the great sermons we heard tonight from SL City in the tabernacle. It was so very wonderful. I wish every female in the world could have heard and saw what a few of us ladies in the Slema Ward heard. I sincerely hope we can treasure and remember to live by what the leaders of the church expressed tonight by satellite.

9-28-84

Dear Diary, I will be waiting to hear from my eye Dr. David Davidson in B'ham. He examined my eyes and sent me up to the 4th floor to have pictures made of my eyes. My skin turned yellow also my urine. I am so very grateful for Doctors.

9-27-84

Dear Diary, I had so much to do today. I did not get my nap after munch. You'd think this late in the season I'd be all finished but I canned 7 qts of okra and fixed up about 3 pts of pimento. Heber gathered the potatoes today. It's almost 11pm and I'm really tired. I wrote Steve a letter today advising him about managing his money. I hope he took it in the way I meant it. Sure would be nice if all the kids could manage their money.

9-26-84

Dear Diary, We have had a very peaceful and unhurried day. We have done several things. I talked with Neva this morning. She said Daniel was sore from all that's happened but was better. I also talked with Patsy her Dad said we would help her move to Utah. She plans to leave most of her furniture here. Tony called this eve they are coming Friday eve. Its really cool beautiful weather. Its so mush like Fall. I washed our Temple clothes today.

9-19-84

Dear Dairy, I am so happy to say I read the scriptures before I did anything today. When we say our prayers and read in the good books we don't have a quilty feeling. I wrote Neva a letter today. I hope I gave her some helpful advice. We love our shildren so much. We'd love for them all to keep the commandments so we can all have the blessings we need so badly in these mixed up and confusing times. Heber is till gathering the corn and I am still watering, it is so dry.

9-18-84

Dear Diary, I tlaked with Patsy this morning a long time. She gave me some good advice. I am grateful for her to be able to talk when I need to. I meant to have written some letters today but I put it off till tomorrow. I did take time to read in the scriptures after Patsy asked me if I was reading the scriptrues every day. It is really important that we do, we feel so much better.

He's only been a member 3 months and he made a better talk than some of our full time missionaries. Bishop Mott really called us to repentance today, he spoke also. We talked with Steve and Jeanette this eve. I gave her a dill pickle recipe. Steve had a little accident at work.

9-15-84

Dear Dairy, I'm not ired much tonight but I am sick. We have enjoyed having John and children some but hate to see Audrey go more than I ever have maybe it is because I am sick. I sure hate to see any of our family travel on the sabbath day. I sure hope they have a safe trip home and hope I feel like going to church tomorrow. Audrey and I watched the Miss America pageant. Miss Utah got it, our favorite.

9-14-84

Dear Diary, We went back to the Murcadine vines and got more. I've fixed the juice, we'll make the jelly later. John and the 4 youngest kids got here tonight. He has pulled several rows of corn today. He hogs the corn stalks after he pulls each row. The most important thing we've done today was to read the scriptures after supper. Audrey is at Linda Etheridge's. I heard very disturbing news that Janie and Ralph Stroud are divorcing.

We visited our friend Sadie Watson in the nursing home this evening. She cried and said she wanted to get well so bad, really sad.

9-08-84

Dear Diary, Bishop Mott and Bro Johnson got here at daylight. They worked all day covering the carriage shed. They got it all finished by dark, the three of them. Heber helped too but what was frightening was when they left Heber fully intended to pay them for the days work they wouldn't take any pay. They thought it would be nice for the Bishopric to work together and it was a great day. They ate breakfast and dinner with us. I talked with Randy today.

9-07-84

Dar Diary, We are all really pooped tonight. Heber hauled 111 bales of hay today. Audrey and I helped him  load and unload it in the hay loft. He had a pulley rigged up so he could store it in the loft. I wrote some birthday cards. Audrey washed two loads of clothes. We thought we would go to Selma this eve, but we were too tired after the hay.

No one is exempt from it it will go on til the Savior comes. We should be anxiously awaiting His return. I am so very grateful for my membership in the church and for all our wonderful family. Heber called Pres Riggs to tell him we would work 2 days a week at the Atlanta temple. I am so happy for this.

It's been a nice day, didn't seem too hot, almost like fall.

8-31-84

Dear Diary, What seemed to be a very good day has ended in a very disturbing one. Chuckie called this eve crying saying he didn't know what to do. His parents were getting a divorce and neither one was at home when he got home from school. I really feel bad tonight. I had a Dr.'s appt. today and my blood sugar is 270 way too much. i sure hope I can get it under control soon. I am to go back Oct 3. I pray things will work out for the best with Chuckie.

I'm still taking my medicine. Got a letter from Larry, cards for B'day and Father's day.

6-27-84

Dear Diary, I went back to the Dr. today. He said what he was worried about usually when you have this much infection you're blood sugar goes to 5 or 600, but mine only went to 300. That was the reason he didn't put me in the hospital and when it gets that high you usually go into a coma so when I get sick in any way I should go to the Dr immediately. I felt better around noon when I went back to the Dr. but tonight I've had another chill. I sure hope I feel better tomorrow.

6-26-84

Dear Diary, I wen tot he Dr. today. I knew my blood sugar was high but didn't realize I had so much infection. The Dr said I had bladder infection, then after he poked around on my stomach he said I had infection in the colon so he gave me a prescription for 500 mg of penicillin 4 times a day. For the last few days I have been having chills and fever. I go back to Dr Howell tomorrow.

6-25-84

They are getting ready to leave next Thurs for Alabama. Tony called today. I started using the night support from Avon.

6-23-84

Dear Diary, We have really been blessed today with the most wonderful rain. While we were gone to Dora's to get Audrey and the kids. They didn't have any way to get to church so we went for them this eve. We left David here. The weather was bad and he was afraid. The old beech tree in the front yard lost one of its big limbs. We are so very grateful for all our blessings.

6-22-84

Dear Diary, We got a letter from Steve today. He seems pretty happy planning for their wedding. We have been busy, but the best thing I did today was I read a chapter in the B of M first thing today. It always gives you a very good day to do the things that we have been commanded to do. David is here with us so he's a big help to Heber in whatever he does. Its sure good to have someone with him at all times.

6-21-84

Dear Diary, Well this is the longest day of the year and I think it must be the hottest and dryest day. Heber gathered the vegetables so I fixed them in the cooler to take to Dora's. We took Audrey over to stay with Johnnie's kids at Dora's while Sue and Johnnie got to DC to bring Dora and sisters home. We stopped by the medical center to see my oldest sister who's 80 years. She has a large ulcer and she was feeling pretty bad when we got there. It helped having someone to talk to.

Dear Diary, We aren't too tired tonight but we have gotten lots done today. I read some in the church news when I first woke up. We worked outside some and washed some. Audrey and I have cleaned down stairs today, then I watered late. It's still so dry Heber got a portion of the sceptic tank lid pit it on and covered it back up with dirt. Now we have to re-sod the grass. We didn't get anyone's call. We sure feel good having the house clean.

Dear Diary, We left at 7am for church. Heber had a meeting at 7:30, after we got to church I took a nap. I fixed my face on the way over. We had a fairly good Father's day. Heber gets really upset at the way our ward is run. The Bishop ignores all that his counselors give him. Surely some day we will all do what's right and let the consequence follow. I tired hard to get the most out of our meeting.

6-16-84

Dear Diary, We are really tired but so happy we love our home . We even had to pull the window down it was so cool and we've had 90 degree weather today. We got a letter from Anitra in with Pa's Father's day card. He also got one from Patsy and kids. I talked with a friend this evening also had a nap. I sure hope we soon get some rain. We watered this eve. I cleaned some flower beds.

We are so very grateful Heber has raised such a good garden to share with our family and friends.

6-14-84

Dear Diary, I am not so tired tonight. We did get lots done today. I wrote several letters today. I worked in the yard this eve. Made a new iris bed around an oak tree. I gathered several cabbage and broccoli. We took fresh vegetables to two different elderly families. I got my quilt top Miss Sadie did for me. It's really pretty. I'm tempted to put it in now and quilt it, but with the garden coming in I better not.

I talked to the family and told them we loved them and were hurt that they quarrelled so much. They committed themselves to try to do better. I also talked with Charlie and gave him some advice, he and Chuckie go home in the morning. Heber and the boys dug down to the septic tank. The man will clean it out tomorrow.

Dear Diary, I am truly grateful for the blessings of this day. We all went to church together and enjoyed it very much. I was called to give a talk in Sac. I was so emotional. I cried, Charlie being there and thinking how bad he needs the blessings of being active in the church and to think some of our members take their church callings so lightly. I sure love our Heavenly Father so much and also love our family and pray they will all get along good together. Steve just called tonight so I talked with he and Janette.
